March 2001 – November 2002 -
Operations Manager at the Humber Forum where my main role was developing and managing all aspects of the Humber sub regional action plan. Other key responsibilities included managing the Secretariat function for the Humber Trade Zone initiative, managing and developing the Humber Programme Effectiveness Team, delivering breakfast briefings, workshops, conference presentations and training sessions to a wide range of different audiences.

September 1997 to March 2001 - European Manager at Humberside Training and Enterprise Council where my major achievements were:-

·   Setting the strategic direction and contributing to the organisation’s business plan for all European policy and Structural Fund programme work. 

·   Taking a key role in people development, preparing and delivering a range of training sessions for colleagues and TEC partner organisation representatives.

·   Representing TECs regionally and nationally on European issues and being proactively involved in drafting the current European Objective 2 & 3 programmes plus working on the ESF co-financing model with the DfES.

·   Developing and managing the Humber action plan for European Funding.

July 1986 to September 1997 - During this period I progressed from the assistant manager of a clothing retail store to the manager of a public funded company, which I set up and managed in tourism training and promotion. For 6 years I was the European Co-ordinator at Bishop Burton College where I established myself as the European contact for all 6 FE colleges in Humberside. My main responsibilities included drafting and implementing a European Strategy, lecturing in European Studies and foreign languages, bidding for funding to organise international staff and student exchange programmes and delivering presentations around the country on the college’s European successes. At North Lincolnshire Council I managed a Policy Team of 10 staff and was responsible for both the rural and European agendas. Key activities included establishing and managing a local partnership for the RESIDER II (steel industry re-training) programme, creating and leading a council wide European funding working group, representing the council on regional working groups and preparing and delivering a wide range of training workshops for colleagues, partners and elected members to communicate and translate European plans and processes.
